PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin solution which can give a coating film excellent in gloss, weathering resistance and staining resistance by radial-polymerizing a specified monomer mixture in a solution of a specified fluorocopolymer in an organic solvent. SOLUTION: A monomer mixture essentially consisting of a 2-4C alkyl (meth) acrylate and a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate (e.g. hydroxyethyl methacrylate) is radical-polymerized in a solution of a fluorocopolymer comprising 30-65mol% units derived from a chlorotrifluoroethylene monomer, 10-50mol% units derived from a vinyl ester of a 3C or higher aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acid (e.g. vinyl pivalate), 2-25mol% units derived from a hydroxyalkyl crotonate or a hydroxyalkyl acrylate monomer and 0-20mol% units derived from other vinyl monomers (e.g. methyl methacrylate) in an organic solvent (e.g. xylene). It is desirable that the weight ratio of the fluorocopolymer to the monomer mixture is 95/5 to 20/80. COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
